Frequently Asked Questions
How to install The Mag Playwall?
Step 1: Prep
Prep your wall by doing a quick wipe-down of the wall surface with a damp cloth to make sure the wall is clean. Before installation, ensure the wall is dry.
Prep The Mag Playwall by taking it out of the tube and lay flat with heavy flat objects on it overnight.
Step 2: Peel
Carefully peel the plastic film from the bottom corner of the decal. Align and place the decal on the desired surface and slowly peel away the rest of the backing while smoothing the decal up at the same time.
We recommend recruiting a friend to help hold and line up The Mag Playwall as you apply and smooth it onto the wall.
Step 3: Press
Press and apply pressure on the decal to secure and activate the adhesive. Start from the middle and press outward to ensure no air bubbles are trapped under the decal.
Pro tip: use a hard, flat item (like a hardcover book) to smoothen out the decal.
Step 4: Play!
It’s time to create and play with your new Mag Playwall! Welcome to your child’s ultimate creative vertical play station. Grab a coffee, get comfy, and watch as imagination takes the spotlight — let the fun begin!
What surfaces are compatible with The Mag Playwall decal?
The Mag Playwall decal is designed for indoor use and performs best on clean, smooth, and dry surfaces such as:
- Painted walls (ideally with matte or low-sheen finishes)
- Smooth doors.
For best results, make sure the surface is free from dust, oils, and moisture.
Surfaces that may not be compatible with The Mag Playwall:
- Stain-resistant or stain-blocking paints (often semi-gloss or glossy): These finishes are designed to repel adhesives.
- Textured surfaces and wallpapers: This includes plaster, embossed wallpaper, brick, concrete, or lacquered finishes.
- Newly painted walls: Allow at least 30 days for paint to fully cure before applying.
- Old, cracked, or damaged paint: Weak or deteriorating surfaces may prevent the decal from sticking well.
Every decal is made with care and attention to quality. While we do our best, Peasy Play can’t take responsibility for any wall damage during application or removal.
What do you mean by glossy or matte wall paint?
Glossy paint has a shiny, smooth finish (often sold as “washable” or “non-marking”) and can make it harder for decals like the Mag Playwall to stick.
Matte or low-sheen walls have a softer surface that gives the adhesive better grip. If your walls are glossy, we recommend using 3M strips or mounting the Playwall on MDF/ply instead.
How can I tell if my walls are glossy or matte?
Stand side-on to your wall in natural light. If it looks shiny or reflective, it’s glossy.
Glossy paint also feels very smooth and wipes clean easily. Matte paint has no shine, feels softer or more velvety, and marks don’t always wipe away.
How do I Remove the Playwall?
Please note that the Mag Playwall is designed as a long-term feature, not something to peel off and reapply. Think of it a bit like like wallpaper – a permanent piece of wall décor that will grow and change alongside your child’s play.
If you do need to remove it, start at a top corner and slowly peel it back at a low angle. If a section is stubborn, gently warm the adhesive with a hair dryer on low heat to help it release. Any remaining adhesive can usually be wiped away with a warm, damp cloth.
Because the Playwall is made with an extra-strong adhesive to keep it secure (and safe from curious little fingers), it may not be suitable for delicate finishes such as wallpaper, fresh paint, or textured walls. Removal could cause damage to these surfaces.
We’ve taken great care in designing the Mag Playwall to be safe, durable, and beautiful. However, as every wall is different, Peasy Play cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur during application or removal.
Can I move The Mag Playwall to different locations in my home?
The Magic Wall is an adhesive decal designed for one-time application. It’s designed to stay put. Please keep this in mind when installing in your home.
If The Mag Playwall does need to be removed, peel off slowly and try using a hairdryer to warm up the adhesive as you go.
Every decal is made with care and attention to quality. While we do our best, Peasy Play can’t take responsibility for any wall damage during application or removal.
We rent our home, can I use The Mag Playwall?
Yes! Need a renter friendly option? The Mag Playwall can also be applied to a large, thin panel of plywood or MDF.
This way, your kids can still enjoy all the magic, without sticking it directly to your walls. Just be sure to safely secure the panel to the wall so it won’t tip or fall near little ones.
The adhesive on the back of The Mag Playwall is strong to help it stay securely in place. If installed on the wall, it is best to keep it in one spot. But if you do need to remove it, peel it very slowly from the top. You can gently warm the adhesive with a hairdryer on low heat to make removal easier.
Is The Mag Playwall reusable?
While it can be removed if needed, please note that it’s not designed to be repositioned or reused, as doing so may weaken the adhesive and affect how well it sticks next time. If wanting to reinstall the Mag Playwall, you may need to use some sort of wall adhesive such as wall strips.
The surface is reusable! The magnetic layer won't run out!
How to clean The Mag Playwall?
To clean your decal, gently wipe with a damp cloth or baby wipes for everyday cleaning. Dry after.
For stubborn marks, a magic eraser works well.
Cleaning after every use is recommended whenever chalk or dry erase markers are applied.
What type of magnets work on The Mag Playwall?
Little ones love the magnetic surface of The Mag Playwall! It’s designed to work best with lightweight magnets. While it’s great for play, it doesn’t have the same magnetic strength as a fridge, so heavier or bulky magnets may not stick well.
For the best experience, we recommend using light, flat magnets that are easy for little hands to move and play with.
If building a ball run, it's a great physics lesson in supporting weight as you build up!
What can I use to draw on The Mag Playwall?
Water-based washable markers, whiteboard markers and washable crayons. We recommend cleaning off after each use.
Please note that some whiteboard markers are more difficult to remove than others.
